German Laura Siegemund defeated Italian Lucia Bronzetti 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the second round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.
Siegemund, ranked No 158, will play Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 27 seed, next.
