Australian Open: Raducanu moves into main draw after Davis withdrawal
The 21-year-old Brit made a triumphant return to the tour on Tuesday after an eight-month break due to injuries
On Tuesday, Emma Raducanu played and won her first match on the tour in eight months. A day later, the 21-year-Brit received some more good news as she learnt that she would get a direct entry into the Australian Open singles main draw.
Raducanu started six spots away from the main draw cut-off a few weeks back when the entry lists first came out which would have forced her to depend on a wildcard entry or coming through the qualifying draw. But with players withdrawing, the Brit kept inching closer to the main draw. On Wednesday, American Lauren Davis pulled out which moved Raducanu into the main draw.

After undergoing multiple surgeries on her ankle and wrists, Raducanu was off the tour for eight months and won her comeback match in the first round of the ASB Classic in Auckland on over Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. The Brit will face second seed Elina Svitolina in the second round on Thursday.
