Australian Open: Murray goes down in straight sets to Etcheverry in first round

Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 30 seed, won against Andy Murray 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Monday.

This was only Murray’s fourth first round exit at Melbourne Park in 16 main draw appearances.

Etcheverry, ranked No 32, will face the winner of the match between German Yannick Hanfmann and Frenchman Gael Monfils next.
