Australian Open: Lehecka breezes past Bonzi to reach last 16

No 24 seed Jiri Lehecka reached the last 16 of the Australian Open by defeating Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 at Melbourne Park.
Lehecka, ranked No 29, will play the winner of the match between Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 7 seed, and No 26 seed Tomas Machac next.
Jiri Lehecka edged out Australian wildcard Li Tu (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1)) and benefited from the abandonment of Frenchman Hugo Gaston (6-3, 3-1) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the first Grand Slam tournament in 2025, Bonzi, ranked No 64, won against Belgian David Goffin (6-1, 6-2, 7-6 (7)) and edged out Italian lucky loser Francesco Passaro (6-2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4).
