Australian Open: Keys edges out Rybakina to make quarter-finals

American Madison Keys, the No 19 seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open by winning against Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 at Melbourne Park on Monday.
Keys, ranked No 14, will play Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 28 seed, next.
The American beat Ann Li (6-4, 7-5), Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse (7-6 (1), 2-6, 7-5) and No 10 seed Danielle Collins (6-4, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2025 season, Rybakina, ranked No 7, defeated Australian wildcard Emerson Jones (6-1, 6-1), American wildcard Iva Jovic (6-0, 6-3) and Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 32 seed (6-3, 6-4).
