Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 10 seed, beat Spaniard Pedro Martinez 7-6 (1), 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Monday night.
Hurkacz, ranked No 11, will play the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Sonego and Portuguese Nuno Borges next.
