Australian Open: Fritz thrashes Garin to sail into third round, meets Monfils next

American Taylor Fritz, the No 4 seed, won against Chilean qualifier Cristian Garin 6-2, 6-1, 6-0 to reach the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.

Fritz, ranked No 4, will play Frenchman Gael Monfils next.

The American beat Jenson Brooksby (6-2, 6-0, 6-3) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament in 2025, Garin, ranked No 150, won against Croat Borna Coric (7-5, 6-1, 6-2).
