Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 4 seed, beat Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 3 seed, 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) to win the Australian Open trophy at Melbourne Park on Sunday night.
Djokovic, ranked No 5, defeated Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-3, 6-4, 6-0), French qualifier Enzo Couacaud (6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-0), Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 27 seed (7-6 (7), 6-3, 6-4), Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 22 seed (6-2, 6-1, 6-2), Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed (6-1, 6-2, 6-4) and American Tommy Paul (7-5, 6-1, 6-2) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds, Tsitsipas, ranked No 4, defeated Frenchman Quentin Halys (6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (6)), Australian wildcard Rinky Hijikata (6-3, 6-0, 6-2), Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (6-2, 7-6 (5), 6-3), Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 15 seed (6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3), Czech Jiri Lehecka (6-3, 7-6 (2), 6-4) and Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 18 seed (7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-3).
