Australian Open: Collins defeats Aiava to reach third round
Danielle Collins defeated Destanee Aiava 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 on Thursday and will face American Madison Keys, the No 19 seed, in the next round
American Danielle Collins, the No 10 seed, beat Australian qualifier Destanee Aiava 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.
Collins, ranked No 11, will play American Madison Keys, the No 19 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against Ukrainian qualifier Daria Snigur (7-6 (4), 6-3).
Aiava, ranked No 195, edged out Belgian Greet Minnen (5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2025 season.
