Australian Open: Cerundolo advances to third round

No 31 seed Francisco Cerundolo reached the third round of the Australian Open when Facundo Diaz Acosta retired at Melbourne Park on Thursday night.

Cerundolo, ranked No 31, led 6-2, 1-0 when Acosta, ranked No 73, pulled out on Thursday night at Melbourne Park.

Francisco Cerundolo will face Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 8 seed, next.

Cerundolo defeated Kazakh Alexander Bublik (7-6 (1), 6-3, 6-2) in the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament in 2025.
