Australian Open: Bencic makes third round

Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 12 seed, moved into the third round of the Australian Open by beating American Claire Liu 7-6 (3), 6-3 at Melbourne Park on Thursday.
Bencic, ranked No 10, will face Italian Camila Giorgi next.
The Swiss won against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-1, 6-2) in the previous round.
During the first round, Liu, ranked No 62, defeated Madison Brengle (6-3, 6-4).
