Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 11 seed, defeated Australian wildcard Talia Gibson 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.
Badosa, ranked No 12, will play Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 17 seed, next.
The Spaniard won against Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2025 season.
