Australian Open: Azarenka dominates Zhu and makes quarter-finals
Victoria Azarenka edged out Lin Zhu 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday and will play American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, in the next round
Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 24 seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Australian Open by edging out Chinese Lin Zhu 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 at Melbourne Park on Sunday night session.
Azarenka, ranked No 24, will play American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 33-year-old Belarusian won against American Sofia Kenin (6-4, 7-6 (3)), Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-1, 6-0) and American Madison Keys, the No 10 seed (1-6, 6-2, 6-1).
Zhu, ranked No 87, defeated Canadian Rebecca Marino (6-2, 6-4), Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 32 seed (6-2, 6-2) and Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 6 seed (7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-4) in the previous rounds.
