Andreeva sets up last 16 clash with Sabalenka in Melbourne
The Russian set up a clash with two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round
Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 14 seed, won against Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 23 seed, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 to advance to the last 16 of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Friday night.
Andreeva, ranked No 15, will face Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, next.
The 17-year-old Russian defeated Marie Bouzkova (6-3, 6-3) and edged out Japanese Moyuka Uchijima (6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (8)) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Frech, ranked No 26, won against Russian qualifier Polina Kudermetova (6-4, 6-4) and Russian Anna Blinkova (0-6, 6-0, 6-2).
