Zhuhai Open: McDonald reaches the quarter-finals
Mackenzie McDonald defeated Kimmer Coppejans 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Friday and will play the winner of the match between Russian Karen Khachanov, the top seed, and Australian qualifier Alex Bolt in the next round
American Mackenzie McDonald, the No 6 seed, won against Belgian Kimmer Coppejans 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Zhuhai Open at the Zhuhai Hengqin International Tennis Centre on Friday.
McDonald, ranked No 39, will face the winner of the match between Russian Karen Khachanov, the top seed, and Australian qualifier Alex Bolt next.
The American defeated Chinese Juncheng Shang (6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Zhuhai tournament, Coppejans, ranked No 186, won against American Aleksandar Kovacevic (7-6 (4), 6-1).
