Brazilian Thiago Monteiro defeated Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-1 to reach the last 16 of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Tuesday night.
Monteiro, ranked No 67, will play the winner of the match between Kyle Edmund and Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, the No 10 seed, next.
The Brazilian won against American Denis Kudla (7-6 (1), 7-5) ahead of his victory.
