Wildcard Michael Mmoh reached the last 16 of the Winston-Salem Open by winning against No 13 seed Marcos Giron 6-3, 6-4 at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
Mmoh, ranked No 94, will play Croat Borna Coric, the top seed, next.
The American had defeated Barbadian qualifier Darian King (6-2, 3-6, 6-3) ahead of his win on Tuesday.
