American wildcard Alex Michelsen advanced to the last 16 of the Winston-Salem Open by defeating Austrian Sebastian Ofner, the No 15 seed, 7-6 (4), 7-5 at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Tuesday evening.
Michelsen, ranked No 133, will play Serb Laslo Djere, the No 4 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the 18-year-old American won against Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-0).
