Winston-Salem Open: Mannarino books spot in semi-finals

Frenchman Adrian Mannarino won against American Maxime Cressy, the No 4 seed, 6-4, 7-6 (3) to advance to the last four of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Thursday evening.

Mannarino, ranked No 65, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, the No 10 seed, and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the second seed, next.

The 34-year-old Frenchman defeated Australian qualifier Christopher O’Connell (7-6 (4), 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3)), Finn Emil Ruusuvuori, the No 9 seed (6-4, 6-1) and Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.

In the previous rounds of the Winston-Salem, Cressy, ranked No 34, won against Australian James Duckworth (6-3, 6-3) and edged out Italian Lorenzo Sonego, the No 14 seed (6-7 (4), 6-2, 7-6 (3)).
