Winston-Salem Open: Gasquet reaches quarter-finals

Frenchman Richard Gasquet beat American Steve Johnson 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Wednesday evening.
Gasquet, ranked No 91, will play the winner of the match between Australian qualifier Jason Kubler and Serb Laslo Djere next.
Ahead of his victory, the 36-year-old Frenchman benefited from the abandonment of Pole Kamil Majchrzak (6-7 (5), 6-2, 1-0) and won against Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 5 seed (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1).
Johnson, ranked No 115, won against qualifier Emilio Nava (6-3, 6-2) and Spaniard Pedro Martinez, the No 12 seed (7-6 (2), 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Winston-Salem.
