French veteran Richard Gasquet, the No 12 seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open by edging out American Brandon Nakashima 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Frenchman won against Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Winston-Salem tournament. This is the third year in a row that Gasquet is through to the quarter-finals in Winston-Salem.
