Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, the No 10 seed, beat Kyle Edmund 6-4, 7-6 (5) to move into the last 16 of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Tuesday night.
Bonzi, ranked No 50, will play Brazilian Thiago Monteiro next.
Kyle Edmund won against Greek lucky loser Michail Pervolarakis (6-2, 7-5) in the previous round of the Winston-Salem.
