Belgian Zizou Bergs edged out American wildcard Reilly Opelka 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (1) to move into the second round of the Winston-Salem Open at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Sunday night.
Bergs, ranked No 85, will face No 6 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry next.
