Vienna Open: Rublev books berth in Turin after reaching quarter-finals
The Russian will meet German Alexander Zverev, the No 5 seed, in the quarter-finals
Russia’s Andrey Rublev, the No 3 seed, won against Italian Matteo Arnaldi 7-5, 6-3 to move into the last eight of the Vienna Open at the Wiener Stadthalle on Thursday.
With the win, Rublev, ranked No 5 in the world, has booked his spot in the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin. This will be the fourth consecutive appearance in the ATP Finals for the Russian, He will play German Alexander Zverev, the No 5 seed, in the quarter-finals, the 11th (6-4 win-loss record in 2023) this year for Rublev.
The Russian beat Australian Alexei Popyrin (7-6 (5), 6-4) in the previous round of the tournament. Earlier in thr week, Arnaldi, ranked No 46, won against Spanish qualifier Albert Ramos-Vinolas (7-6 (4), 7-6 (2)).
