Sinner sets Medvedev clash in Vienna with victory over Francisco Cerundolo

Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 6 seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Vienna Open by winning against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo 7-5, 6-3 at the Wiener Stadthalle on Thursday evening.
Sinner, ranked No 12, will face Russian Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, next.
Medvedev holds the 3-0 lifetime edge over Sinner, winning their last match in a third-set tiebreak at the 2021 ATP Finals in Turin.
Sinner reaches his 10th quarter-final of the season and improves to 28-8 on hard courts (47-14 overall).
Ahead of his victory, the 21-year-old Italian beat Chilean Cristian Garin (6-3, 6-2).
Cerundolo, ranked No 29, defeated Austrian wildcard Filip Misolic (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Vienna.
