Van De Zandschulp beats Fokina to reach Queens semis
US Open quarter-finalist Botic van de Zandschulp wins in straight sets to reach the Queens semis where he will meet either Berrettini or Paul
Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp is through to the semi-finals of the ATP Queen’s Club event in London after defeating Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets on Friday.
Van De Zandschulp lost his serve only once in the entire match, winning 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 13 minutes.
The 29th ranked Dutchman will meet either second seed Matteo Berrettini, of Italy, or Tommy Paul, of the United States, for a spot in the final.
Botic van de Zandschulp, who had made a surprising run to the quarter-finals at last year’s US Open, had scored wins over British qualifier Paul Jubb (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1) and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (7-6 (5), 6-3) in previous matches in the tournament.
