Australian Jason Kubler, the No 6 seed, reached the last eight of the US Clay Court Championships by beating Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan 6-4, 6-2 at River Oaks Country Club in Houston on Saturday.
Kubler, ranked No 71, will face the winner of the match between top seed Frances Tiafoe and wildcard Steve Johnson next.
In the previous round of the Houston Open, the Australian won against Spanish wildcard Fernando Verdasco (7-6 (7), 6-0).
Galan, ranked No 94, won against Chinese Zhizhen Zhang (6-2, 6-3) during the first round of the Houston Open.
