US Clay Court Championships: Giron sweeps past Gomez, plays Machac next

American Marcos Giron, the No 7 seed, moved into the second round of the US Clay Court Championships by defeating Ecuadorian Emilio Gomez 6-0, 6-2 at River Oaks Country Club in Houston on Tuesday.
Giron, ranked No 69 in the world, will next meet Czech qualifier Tomas Machac, who beat American wildcard Jack Sock in another first round clash.
