Toronto Masters: Lehecka wins tight opener over Nakashima, to play Ruud next

Jiri Lehecka reached the second round of the Toronto Masters by edging out American Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (2) at the Aviva Centre on Monday evening.
It was a high-quality encounter, with both players hitting 35 or more winners and only 15 unforced errors. The win is Lehecka’s first over Nakashima, after twice losing to the American at the 2022 Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals Italy.
Lehecka, ranked No 36, will play No 3 seed Casper Ruud next.
