German Alexander Zverev, the No 13 seed, beat Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 7-6 (3) to advance to the second round of the Toronto Masters at the Aviva Centre on Tuesday evening.
The German improved to 2-1 lifetime against 26th-ranked Griekspoor and avenged a three-set loss to the Dutchman in Rotterdam earlier this year.
