Auger-Aliassime’s woes continue as the birthday boy falls to Purcell in first round at Toronto
Max Purcell defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday. He’ll play Andy Murray in the next round

Australian qualifier Max Purcell won against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 10 seed, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Toronto Masters at the Aviva Centre on Tuesday night.
Purcell, ranked No 78, will face Andy Murray next.
The victory spoiled Auger-Aliassime’s 23rd birthday party on home soil. The Canadian is in the midst of a difficult stretch – his losing streak hits four matches and he has not won a match since May in Lyon, as injury struggles and low confidence have held him back.
