Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina defeated German Alexander Zverev, the No 13 seed, 6-1, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the Toronto Masters at the Aviva Centre on Wednesday evening.
Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 37, will play Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 3 seed, next.
The Spaniard won against American J.J. Wolf (6-0, 6-2) in the previous round of the Canadian Open.
In the previous round of the Rogers Cup, Zverev, ranked No 16, won against Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (6-4, 7-6 (3)).
