Japanese Taro Daniel reached the quarter-finals of the Tennis Napoli Cup by winning against Argentinian Pedro Cachin 6-4, 7-6 (2) on Thursday.
Daniel, ranked No 95, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena and Italian Matteo Berrettini, the second seed, next.
The Japanese beat Spaniard Pedro Martinez (6-3, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round, Cachin, ranked No 57, edged out Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 8 seed (6-1, 3-6, 6-4).
