Argentinian Sebastian Baez ended an 11-match losing streak as he beat Italian Lorenzo Sonego 7-5, 7-6 (3) on Wednesday to advance to the last 16 of the Tennis Napoli Cup.
Sixth seed Baez, ranked No 37, will play the winner of the match between Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and Chinese qualifier Zhizhen Zhang next.
Since reaching the final in Bstaad in July, Baez had lost in the first round in 10 consecutive tournaments.
