Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 5 seed, reached the second round of the Tel Aviv Open by beating Portuguese João Sousa 6-2, 6-3 at Expo Tel Aviv on Tuesday.
Van De Zandschulp, ranked No 35, will face British qualifier Liam Broady next.
