German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 5 seed, beat Swiss wildcard Leandro Riedi 7-6 (6), 7-6 (1) to reach the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open at the Roy Emerson Arena.

Struff, ranked No 37, will face Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 4 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Gstaad tournament, the 34-year-old German won against Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas (7-6 (6), 7-6 (4)).

Riedi, ranked No 134, defeated Frenchman Gregoire Barrere (7-6 (2), 7-5) in the previous round of the Gstaad tournament.
