Swiss Open: Struff defeats Etcheverry to reach semi-finals

Jan-Lennard Struff won against Tomas Martin Etcheverry 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 on Friday and will play French qualifier Quentin Halys in the next round

German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 5 seed, won against Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 4 seed, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 to advance to the semi-finals of the Swiss Open at the Roy Emerson Arena.

Struff, ranked No 37, will play French qualifier Quentin Halys next.

Ahead of his victory, the 34-year-old German defeated Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas (7-6 (6), 7-6 (4)) and Swiss wildcard Leandro Riedi (7-6 (6), 7-6 (1)).

Etcheverry, ranked No 32, won against Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Gstaad tournament.
