Swiss Open: Ruud reaches last four
Casper Ruud defeated Jaume Munar 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) on Friday and will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the No 4 seed, and Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry in the next round
Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed and 2022 French Open runnder-up, won against Spaniard Jaume Munar 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) to reach the semi-finals of the Swiss Open at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad on Friday afternoon.
Ruud, ranked No 5, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the No 4 seed, and Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry next.
Matteo Berrettini and Dominic Thiem will meet in the other highly expected semi-final.
Earlier in the tournament, the Norwegian beat Czech Jiri Lehecka (6-3, 6-4) ahead of his victory. Munar, ranked No 63, edged out Bernabe Zapata Miralles (6-3, 3-6, 7-5) and won against Swiss wildcard Alexander Ritschard (6-3, 6-3).
