Swiss Open: Ramos-Vinolas saves one match point and moves into last four, Ruud next

Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the No 4 seed, edged out Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (8) to move into the semi-finals of the Swiss Open at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad on Friday evening.
Ramos-Vinolas, ranked No 40, saved one match point when the score was 8-7 against him in the third set yie-break. He converted his third match point after 2 hours and 53 minutes. Ruud will play Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Gstaad tournament, the 34-year-old Spaniard defeated Swiss wildcard Dominic Stricker (6-3, 4-6, 6-1). Jarry, ranked No 118, edged out Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (6-7 (9), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (6)) and won against German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann (7-6 (5), 7-6 (2)).
