Swiss Open: Munar books spot in quarter-finals

Jaume Munar defeated Alexander Ritschard 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday night and will face the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, and Czech Jiri Lehecka in the next round

Spaniard Jaume Munar won against Swiss wildcard Alexander Ritschard 6-3, 6-3 to move into the last eight of the Swiss Open at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad on Wednesday night.

Munar, ranked No 63, will face the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, and Czech Jiri Lehecka next.

The Spaniard edged out Bernabe Zapata Miralles (6-3, 3-6, 7-5) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Gstaad, Ritschard, ranked No 190, beat Portuguese João Sousa, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-3).
