Swiss Open: Martinez books spot in quarter-finals

Pedro Martinez won against Elias Ymer 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 on Thursday night. He’ll face the winner of the match between Frenchman Richard Gasquet and Italian Matteo Berrettini, the second seed, in the next round

Spaniard Pedro Martinez, the No 5 seed, beat Swede qualifier Elias Ymer 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 to move into the last 8 of the Swiss Open at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad on Thursday night.

Martinez, ranked No 52, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Richard Gasquet and Italian Matteo Berrettini, the second seed, next.

In the previous round of the Gstaad, the Spaniard won against Carlos Taberner (6-4, 6-3).

Ymer, ranked No 131, benefited from the abandonment of Frenchman Benoit Paire (6-2, 2-0) in the previous rounds.
