Swiss Open: Halys eases past Heide to move into semi-finals
Quentin Halys beat Gustavo Heide 6-1, 7-5 and will play the winner of the match between Jan-Lennard Struff and Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the next round
French qualifier Quentin Halys reached the semi-finals of the Swiss Open by winning against Brazilian qualifier Gustavo Heide 6-1, 7-5 at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad.
Halys, ranked No 192, will face the winner of the match between German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 5 seed, and Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 4 seed, next.
The Frenchman defeated Richard Gasquet (7-6 (4), 7-6 (5)) and edged out Slovak Lukas Klein (6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Gstaad tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Heide, ranked No 178, edged out Italian Stefano Napolitano (7-6 (4), 5-7, 7-6 (3)) and beat Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the second seed (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-3).
