Swiss Open: Berrettini reaches last eight
Matteo Berrettini defeated Daniel Elahi Galan 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday afternoon. He’ll face the winner of the match between Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 3 seed, and German Yannick Hanfmann in the next round
Italian Matteo Berrettini, the No 6 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open by beating Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan 6-4, 6-2 at the Roy Emerson Arena.
Berrettini, ranked No 82, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 3 seed, and German Yannick Hanfmann next.
Ahead of his victory, the Italian won against Argentinian Pedro Cachin (6-4, 7-6 (2)).
Galan, ranked No 142, won against Vit Kopriva (6-3, 6-2) in the previous round of the Gstaad tournament.
