Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 3 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Swiss Indoors by winning against Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6 (3), 7-5 at the St. Jakobshalle. in Basel on Thursday afternoon.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 11, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero and Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Greek edged out Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo (6-3, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4)).
Van De Zandschulp, ranked No 67, benefited from the abandonment of Kazakh Alexander Bublik (3-6, 6-4, 4-0) in the previous round of the Basel tournament.
