Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 7 seed, advanced to the second round of the Swiss Indoors by winning against German qualifier Daniel Altmaier 7-6 (5), 6-3 at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel on Monday .
Fils, ranked No 20, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero and Jiri Lehecka next.
