Swiss Indoors: Mpetshi Perricard upsets Auger-Aliassime to make last eight

Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard defeated Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 8 seed, 6-1, 7-6 (6) to move into the quarter-finals of the Swiss Indoors in Basel.

Mpetshi Perricard, ranked No 50, will face Canadian wildcard Denis Shapovalov next.

Ahead of his victory, the 21-year-old Frenchman won against Australian qualifier James Duckworth (7-6 (4), 6-3).

Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 19, won against Argentinian Sebastian Baez (7-5, 6-1) in the previous round of the Basel tournament.
