Auger-Aliassime eases past Bublik in Basel to stretch winning streak to 11
Felix Auger-Aliassime won against Alexander Bublik 6-2, 6-3 on Friday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between top seed Carlos Alcaraz and No 5 seed Pablo Carreno Busta in the next round
Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 3 seed, reached the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors by winning against Kazakh Alexander Bublik 6-2, 6-3 at the Halle Saint-Jacques in Basle on Friday.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 9, will play the winner of the match between top seed Carlos Alcaraz and No 5 seed Pablo Carreno Busta next.
The Canadian has had a massive autumn, winning titles at Florence and Antwerp to take his 2022 title count to three. He also notched his personal-best 51st win of the season on Friday in Switzerland, as he improved to 22-4 overall indoors.
Auger-Aliassime is one of three players on the ATP Tour to have hit the 50-win mark in 2022 (also Alcaraz and Tsitsipas).
Ahead of his victory, the 22-year-old Canadian edged out Swiss wildcard Marc-Andrea Huesler (6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-4) and beat Serb Miomir Kecmanovic (6-1, 6-0).
Bublik, ranked No 38, defeated Russian lucky loser Aslan Karatsev (6-3, 7-6 (2)) and Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
