Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 5 seed, reached the last eight of the Stuttgart Open by beating German Dominik Koepfer 6-7 (9), 7-6 (5), 6-3 at Tennisclub Weissenhof Stuttgart on Wednesday.
Musetti, ranked No 30, will play the winner of the match between Serb wildcard Hamad Medjedovic and Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 3 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Stuttgart tournament, the 22-year-old Italian won against French qualifier Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (7-6 (9), 7-6 (9)).
Koepfer, ranked No 65, edged out Chinese Zhizhen Zhang (4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6)) in the first round of the Stuttgart tournament.
