Wildcard Cem Ilkel edged out Australian Max Purcell, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the last 8 of the Sofia Open.
Ilkel, ranked No 259, will face the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the top seed, and Jack Draper next.
Cem Ilkel won against Bulgarian wildcard Dimitar Kuzmanov (6-0, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Purcell, ranked No 45, beat Rinky Hijikata (6-3, 6-3).
