Dane Holger Rune, the No 5 seed, won against Dutchman Tim van Rijthoven 7-6 (2), 7-6 (6) to advance to the second round of the Sofia Open at the Arena Armeec Sofia on Tuesday.
Rune, ranked No 31, will face the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Sonego and Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles next.
